Défi Kite in Gruissan France series of Kitesurfing 2020, , , , kitesurfing 2020, kitesurfing 2020 Kiteboarding is a surface water sport combining aspects of wakeboarding, snowboarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, skateboarding and gymnastics into one extreme sport. A kiteboarder harnesses the power of the wind with a large controllable power kite to be propelled across the water on a kiteboard similar to a wakeboard or a small surfboard, with or without footstraps or bindings. Kitesurfing is a style of kiteboarding specific to wave riding, which uses standard surfboards or boards shaped specifically for the purpose. Defi Kite Gruissan: Nicolas Parlier and Alexia Fancelli were the fastest kiteboarders of the 2018 Défi Kite, held in Gruissan, France. The 100-kilometer kitesurfing marathon attracted 320 riders. Four races were run, and the famous Tramontane wind didn't disappoint and blew in the 20-to-45-knot range. The competition mixed, once again amateur and professional kiteboarders. A large majority of the riders flew 15-meter kites. Nico led his foil to victory with a flawless performance. "It's a good start of the season for me," expressed the hydrofoil and formula kite world champion. Parlier won the Défi Kite for the fourth time. Alexia Fancelli kept the French flag up in the sky and won the women's division. She was thrilled with the way everything was set up. "It was an awesome weekend in Gruissan for the 6th edition of the Défi Kite. I'm super happy to win this event and to finish 17th out of 320.
