The first story in the Goosebumps short-story collection, Even More Tales to Give you Goosebumps, The Chalk Closet. Unfortunately, this summer he needs to attend summer school to catch up. The school is weird and empty, except for one classroom run by Mr. Grimsley. Mr. Grimsley gives Travis the creeps, but worst of all, he gives the whole class homework on the first night. Mr. Grimsley also threatens any students who don't do homework will end up in the chalk closet. Travis does his best and gets most of it done, but not all his classmates even managed to start theirs. Dooley, the class clown, is the first student to leave Mr. Grimsley's class. Travis thinks Dooley was just kicked out of summer school, but the next day Marty is escorted out of class, then Janice too. Travis is getting nervous, especially about the next test Mr. Grimsley has planned. Any students who don't get an A are also going to the chalk closet. Travis doesn't want to have to repeat summer school! Travis need to wait a whole weekend to find out his grade and potentially, to discover what the Chalk Closet is for himself.
