We launched our report on Economic Openness in Indonesia at an event in Jakarta with the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS). Dr Stephen Brien, Director of Policy at the Legatum Institute, highlighted the challenges and opportunities facing the country across the four pillars of our Global Index of Economic Openness: Market Access and Infrastructure, Investment Environment, Enterprise Conditions, and Governance. This was followed by Rainer Heufers, Director of CIPS, discussed the relationship between foreign investment and trade, and Satria Sambijantoro, Economist at Bahana Enterprise, highlighting the opportunities provided by the current financial environment in Indonesia.
