It was created by the legendary French female crooner Léo Marjane (*1912) in 1941 and became her most enduring hit song. The song spoke to the many women who were seperated from their husbands by the war. Many versions were recorded - mainly by female singers and orchestras such as Django Reinhardt and Fud Candrix. Male versions are rather rare. Today's video features such a rare version by Toni Bert (1906-1988) - one of the many "chanteurs de charme" of the 1930s and 40s whose career lasted roughly a decade (1935-45). It is a charming version with great orchestration by Felix Chardon and his orchestra.
