After the car accident, doctors wanted to amputate Les’ arm. But he wanted to go in a different direction, having them fuse it back together at a 90 degree angle. Les then had to relearn how to play guitar–directing a friend on how to reshape a guitar stand to hold the instrument, so that he could play even while wearing the torso cast.
