IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System, and it is an essential exam if you wish to immigrate or study abroad. The test gives an average band score accordingly to the Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking score. IELTS score is valid for up to two years, and you can undertake the exam several times. So, if the candidate wishes to improve the band, they have the liberty to do so. And, with your desirable score, you can look for excellent educational and professional opportunities. The scores in IELTS is calculated in terms of 'band scores'. The band score ranges from 0-9, each band represents a different level of competence. Band 0 is given when a candidate did not attempt the test, and band 9 means high expertise in the language. But how are these scores calculated? In the IELTS test, a candidate gets an individual band score for each section, and an overall band score is given, which is an average of all the sections. You can get a whole number or a half which is rounded off to the nearest number. In IELTS Speaking, the band is awarded based on fluency & coherence, grammatical errors & accuracy, pronunciation, and vocabulary. The candidate is given different bands on the criteria mentioned above, and then an average band score is given to the candidate. For IELTS and Reading, the candidate's score is based on 40 questions, and each question carries one mark. The raw score of the candidate is converted into a band score. IELTS writing is assessed on task response, coherence & cohesion, grammatical range & accuracy, and vocabulary. The video can help you to understand the IELTS scoring system and help you achieve the desirable score for future opportunities.
