Lewis Merrin's video: Exploring an Abandoned Dover Leisure Centre With Amazing Swimming Pool Now Demolished

The explore I kind of knew this building was semi derelict as it had a funny look and feel about it when I recently walked past it about two or three months ago while I was going to another location so I pinned it on my maps and when I was close near it again I thought look much closer for any signs of entry and Are luck paid off we walked upon a open door and was greeted with a humongous sports hall with loads of piles of chairs fridges kitchen supplies and trampolines but they were all had noticed on them all with lots of numbers so they must've been up for auction and sold to private people who wanted to buy the things that were for sale so I carried on exploring and to my amazement I stumbled across a gym squash courts and two amazing untouched swimming pools I’m naming this location is because it’s totally demolished this location was the old Dover leisure centre History I can’t find that much history on the location but it says in one information that I found it was a 1970s art deco floor tiles but everything else was quite updated to the last updated I found on the Internet was the locker rooms were refurbished in 2005 so that must've been the last time the interior design was last refurbished until its closure was this year in February 2019 when they close down the leisure centre and they moved to a different location as this one had A sign of damp and mould growing in the locker rooms and also I noticed The natural weather is starting to affect the whole building through all of this I don't know how long the location will be in this state of beauty until the natural decay takes its place News report Closure of Leisure Centre in Dover Town Centre to be replaced by one new one old Dover sports centre finally shuts this weekend after four decades. The Leisure Centre will close its doors for the last time at 5pm this Sunday. But it will be replaced by the new Leisure Centre eight days later. Dover Leisure Centre in its last month The building, originally called Sports Centre, was opened in 1976 by the then chairman of District Council, Bean. It includes a sports hall, swimming pool, health and fitness suite, gym, studio, and squash courts and a 75-space car park. The old Seventies Leisure Centre But already this decade the centre was showing signs of decay and a 500-name petition for action was drawn up in 2015 by resident Ward. He claimed the facilities at the old centre were “disgusting and rotten” with damp and mildew in the changing rooms. The council decided that a new centre would provide a better long-term solution for the needs of district and would be more cost effective than having the old building refurbished The new District Leisure Centre opens at exactly 9am on Monday, February 25. The eight-day gap between the old and new Dover centres is to give time for complete transfer and staff training at the new site. The £26 million facility features the first swimming pool to be purpose-built to Sport England specifications for a county standard competition swimming pool. The 25m by 17m eight-lane pool includes starting blocks, timing pads, and an electronic scoreboard. It will have spectator seating for 250 people. The 15m x 8.5m learner pool has a moveable floor to vary the depth. Dry-side, the centre includes a four court sports hall, clip ‘n climb interactive climbing arena, a 120-station fitness suite and two multi-activity studios. There will also be a spin studio, two glass-backed squash courts with spectator seating, two outdoor five-a-side football 3G pitches, a sauna and steam room, a café, and 250 parking spaces. ☆ DISCLAIMER: I do not force entry into any locations, neither do I vandalise or take part in any other criminal activity.
