LibertyArchives3's video: THE HOLOCAUST documented by the Allied Expeditionary Forces 1945

This is a documentary film produced in 1945 by the Allied Expeditionary Forces. It contains real footage of concentration camps liberated by the Allies on the Western Front. This includes places such as Buchenwald, Bergen-Belsen, Hadamar, Ohrdruf, Mauthausen, Dachau. When the Allies discovered these camps, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe, ordered footage and documentary evidence to be assembled from all of them, so as to make sure that the memory of these horrible events would never be lost, and that this memory would not be tainted by impertinent acts of denial and rethorique. This footage was used as evidence at the War Crimes Trials of the post-war period. The Holocaust, with the industrialized murder of millions upon millions of Jews, Gypsies, Slavs and others, stands as the essential historical demonstration of what inevitably happens once insanity and evil are allowed to take over human society: death on a mass scale. This is the only thing that inhumanity can produce. Inhumanity hates humanity. It wants to lock her and chain her down, and then to disfigure and enslave her – and finally to kill her. This film of course contains *very graphic footage*. Here is the point where I could counsel viewer discretion and all that. Yet, I really won't. I believe it's quite clear that adults have the duty of watching this footage and being shocked by it, in respect for the victims and also as a reminder that they have the supreme responsibility of not letting humanitarian atrocities take place on their watch. I also think parents should show this to their children. As is known by anyone who saw camp footage as a child (and that includes me), it is something that teaches you humanity and respect for human life, compassion and just indignation towards evil and tyranny. The Holocaust will NOT be forgotten. Shoah will NOT be denied.
