LibertyArchives3's video: TV is a fantastic tool of social engineering Alan Watt

@TV is a fantastic tool of social engineering – Alan Watt
A great Alan Watt talk on the fact that television is one of the most potent social engineering tools ever devised. TV programming is made to be highly persuasive, so as to instill desired values and beliefs, viewpoints and opinions. In that, there is the professional resort to all the techniques of persuasion and psychology, from the socratic organization of information (whereby you're guided step by step into the proper conclusion), to emotional driving (where you're made to like or dislike something on emotional appeal), to subconscious programming (by the use of latent messages and associations, and raw gestalts) – to mention but these. This is facilitated by the fact that the television flicker rate is scientifically adjusted to prompt the brain into an altered alpha state: a state of heightened relaxation and suggestibility, whereby your mind is highly permeable to be downloaded with information, ideas, and latent messages and associations. Most people tend to think that television's persuasive potential is most resorted to in things such as the news, adverts, documentaries. Even though it true those types of content are generally designed in a highly persuasive fashion, the fact is that the most loaded contents are typically entertainment: movies, serials, dramas, soaps, cartoons, etc. That's where you're most relaxed and off guard, so it's a fertile ground of preference wherein to plant ideas, viewpoints and attitudes. The key to dealing with all this is, you watch TV but watch it critically: always aware of the effects it's producing on you, while at the same time critically studying the contents being delivered to you, the forms these contents are presented in, and the persuasive techniques you're being subjected to. As Alan points out, your mind is a muscle and it needs exercise. If you allow it to dwell in the stagnant pools of custom-made programming and social conformity, it will atrophy. However, if you exercise it, it'll grow and spread out in all directions by leaps and bounds – and, it will sharpen up beyond all expectations. So, it's time to give your mind what it wants and deserves – it's time to start thinking for yourself. --- Entertainment, a fantastic means of indoctrination – Emotional driving – Alpha state, highly suggestible, semi-hypnotic state of mind – Flicker rate of TV prompts brain into alpha state – High definition – TV is addictive – Socratic organization of false information – Latent messages and subliminals – Learning by osmosis and converging into social conformity – Downloaded with new perceptions and ideas – Subconscious implantation of viewpoints, ideas, conceptual gestalts – Guided evolution of culture, population upgraded all at same time, or by custom-designed programming for social clusters – Projection and identification of self with characters and storylines facilitates acceptance of latent values and ideas – Brainwashed TV culture – Standardized opinions – Brzezinski: people will be made unable to think for themselves, they'll expect media to do their reasoning for them
