Life Tracks and Hacks's video: Kamakhya Mandir Museum a less visited part of Kamakhya Temple

@Kamakhya Mandir Museum || a less visited part of Kamakhya Temple.
Our visit to Kamakhya Devi Mandir museum at Nilachal hills in Assam from Guwahati. In this episode we visit the museum, situated inside the Kamakhya devi temple complex, after offering our pooja. The museum at Kamakhya mandir is a very less visited part of the temple complex. It is still mostly empty, while it is crowded near the temple. The way to the Museum can be accessed near the starting point of the Kamakhya mandir general queue. The place has a lot of ancient pieces of rock carvings, most of them probably from the ancient Kamakhya temple ruins. Here you can find these pieces of carved rocks lying scattered in the open. There is a miniature model of Nilachal hills, with the location of the temple. The original wooden doors of the Kamakhya temple can also be seen here. Though very old, the exquisite wood craftsmanship can be seen on the door panels which has elaborate designs carved into them. There is also a bull head with horns and head of other animals in the museum. Inside the museum building, there are a lot of hand tools, swords, shields and other form of melee weapons, probably from the Kamrupa dynasty. Although there are writings / inscriptions on a few of them it is very hard to read due to rust. Apart from these there are several types of wooden vessels and containers, wooden and metallic, "singhasans" for worshipping deities, some silverware and a big shield like thing made of silver, some rare sea shells and conch shells, some utensils made of stone and marble, several lamps and stands, stuff made of wood and rudraksh, and a big bell. So check out our trip to know what is there at Kamakhya mandir museum. About kamakhya devi temple: The Kamakhya Temple is a Sakti temple dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya. It is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas. Situated on the Nilachal Hill in western part of Guwahati city in Assam, India, it is the main temple in a complex of individual temples dedicated to the ten Mahavidyas of Saktism, namely, Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chhinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi and Kamalatmika. Among these, Tripurasundari, Matangi and Kamala reside inside the main temple whereas the other seven reside in individual temples. It is an important pilgrimage destination for Hindus and especially for Tantric worshipers. Originally an autochthonous place of worship, the Kamakya Temple became identified with the state power when the Mleccha and then with the Pala kings of Kamarupa, and finally the Koch and the Ahoms patronised it. The Kalika Purana, written during the Pala rule, connected Naraka, the legitimizing progenitor of the Kamarupa kings, with the myth of the goddess Kamakhya representing the region and Kamarupa kingdom.
