LifeFourPointZero's video: Chapels in the Sky

@Chapels in the Sky
This episode we visit Ios where we really challenge our anchor and fenders as we spend a couple very windy nights on the town dock. The hilltop town (or Chora as it is called in Greek) is wonderful. The alleys curve up and down the steep hillside and there are so many chapels, we lost count! At the very top of the incredibly windy hill, there are three small but brilliant chapels lining the ridge. From Ios, we make our way to one of the Small Cyclade islands called Amorgos – a long, narrow island that has a very special monastery built into the side of a cliff over 300 meters above the sea. We enjoy our first night on Amorgos anchored in a quiet fishing cove. Our second night is spent stern-to the main town’s dock where we rent a car to drive to the monastery. After we round the northeast end of Amorgos, we head south to our first island in the Dodecanese – Astipalaia! The island is shaped like a butterfly and we’ll show you three very different anchorages here. First we spent a night in a remote cove on the north coast and we were completely alone. We saw no lights, structures or boats. Our evening star-gazing was amazing and I wish we had a way to show this to our viewers. You’ll have to visit there yourselves, I guess. Our next two stops were along the south coast – first in a small, quiet fishing harbor and then we moved over to the main town of the island – Scala. A 13th century fortification on the top of the hill was a treasure to explore. Inside these old walls were a couple more hill-top chapels to finish off our tour of Chapels in the Sky. Hope you enjoy!
