Is Parker Pennington gonna have a successful figure skating production company? The answer is YES. I met Parker a few months ago when he was a special guest skater for One Step Closer, an AIDS benefit that was held at Lasker Rink in Central Park, NYC. (The event also featured Elaine Zayak, Oksana Baiul, Lucinda Ruh, Angela Maxwell, Joelle Forte, Melissa Bulanghagui and Tai Babilonia.) Aside from Johnny Weir, I have never met anyone who was so self aware about his future and how he was going to shape it. It's kind of hard to explain - you'll have to watch the interview above to get his vibe, but you definitely get the feeling that every morning, Parker wakes up and says, "I'm going to finish my competitive skating career on a high note and then have a super successful production company." Following the interview is his skate to a Michael Jackson medley which the audience absolutely loved. Parker is also going into his 10th year as a senior men's competitor and with long-time coach Carol Heiss Jenkins by his side, I hope that he gets everything he wishes and works for!
