Lily Meade's video: Writing as Therapy Westworld Why Painful Stories Are Important

@Writing as Therapy | Westworld & Why Painful Stories Are Important
Writing fiction as therapy can be uplifting even if your stories are about difficult times. Lately I've been watching Westworld and I think it's a good example for writing (or watching) sad stories. - open for more!†“ - SUBSCRIBE: http://goo.gl/geJ2Fg Watch more writing videos: https://goo.gl/YQMsDi Anyways, I personally have been having a very difficult time writing lately. Not just writing, but enjoying most creative outlets. Real life is incredible stressful right now and cheerful stories seem a bit alien to me right now. I've been finding inspiration, hope, and motivation from dark, sad, and painful stories. A recent favorite of mine is HBO's new hit Westworld. I sort of have a sweet spot for murderous theme parks (Jurassic Park is my favorite movie), but it's more than just violence. Westworld has a lot of themes I find especially relevant lately. It's about wanting and searching for something more, about determination and hope. It's about discovering the truth of who you are and who you'd like to be. I really recommend it. If you're looking for a less fictional read, try A Paradise Built In Hell by Rebecca Solnit. It's a very good book on the aftermath of tragedies like 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, etc. You can buy a copy of the book here: http://amzn.to/2gFL8GL (This is an affiliate link, so if you buy from it I might make a small commission.)
