Dussehra is a massive celebration in Kullu every year. The celebrations begin on Dussehra day and continues for an entire month. Hundreds of Devtas from all neighbouring villages are brought in palki’s (palanquin’s) and gather at the Kullu mela ground to pay their respects to the King of Kullu who makes an appearance in his royal best. The frenzy and vibrancy is heightened by the rhythmic drums, energised local ‘Nati’ dances and folk music. It has a strangely hypnotic effect and is sure to give you goosebumps! Every evening there are cultural performances at the amphitheater by hundreds of famed domestic and international artists. Here’s a glimpse of a fun evening we spent at the carnival.
