May 2018 Ljubljana is the capital and largest city in Slovenia. It is known for it’s university population, green spaces (including Tivoli Park), outdoor cafes, and the curving Ljubljanica River. One of the biggest green spaces in Ljubljana is Tivoli Park. This is the meeting point between my friend and I with a "stranger" one year ago. He took us around the city, the castle, and got us a sladoled. A memory I will keep forever :) COYPU/NUTRIA We had a stroll along the river and found this little creature. It is not a beaver nor an otter nor a muskrat. It is a Coypu, also known as Nutria or river rat. Nutria is a large herbivorous semiaquatic rodent that lives in burrows alongside stretches of water. They resemble a very large rat weighing 4-9 kg. They can have between 1-13 offspring’s, and here is one of them! They are usually considered pests. One thing you won’t miss when strolling the city is all graffiti. All sorts, and colours, and context. The two places you can find a lot of beautiful graffiti and art is the Rog factory and Metelkova. ROG FACTORY Soon after World War Two, Rog Factory Ljubljana was a place for manufacturing bicycles and typewriting machines until the early 90’s when the production was closed. Since then the abandoned factory represents an alternative open space for users who developed cultural and artistic scenes. METELKOVA Metelkova is an autonomous social and cultural center. Formerly, the site was a military headquarter of the Army of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, then it became the Slovenian headquarter of the Yugoslav National Army. It was squatted since 1993 and then named Metelkova after the nearby Metelko Street. It is very popular at night.
