Lingnan University's video: Musical Mix Entertains ACLA CHER Attendees

The Welcome Reception for the ACLA/CHER Conference featured an enjoyable musical performance arranged by the University’s Wong Bing Lai Music and Performing Arts Unit. Aruzhan Zhumagulova, a Year One Student from Kazakhstan, thrilled the audience with a dazzling performance on her dombra (dombyra), a traditional stringed Kazakh instrument that is similar to a lute. Aruzhan’s performance was followed by some invigorating jazzed-up Bach played by a quartet of Lingnanians led by Dr Ip Kim-ho, Associate Professor of Practice at Lingnan University. The potent mixture of musical styles expressed the Lingnan credo of crossing boundaries, finding new paths forward, and building on tradition. The performance took place at Lingnan University on 8 November.
