Live from Prince Street's video: Episode 3: Craving

@Episode 3: Craving
http://www.livefromprincestreet.com/ Craving is the topic this month on Prince Street. A professional line-waiter explains the psychology of cult-craving. Alex Guarnaschelli tells us why she's driven to test herself in her latest challenge—stand-up comedy. When she is reunited with her mother, a young Somali-American woman discovers a sauce recipe from her country that will change her life. Mario Batali and Jay McInerney share memories of the late great novelist Jim Harrison. Correspondent Noah Bernamoff, owner of hit restaurants Mile End Deli and Black Seed Bagels, is used to people waiting in line for his food, but he hates doing it himself. Why do people do it? By talking to a professional line-waiter; to the king of the cronut, Dominique Ansel; and, finally, by standing in a famous line himself, Noah finds out why waiting for it can be way more fun than avoiding the crowds. Howie Kahn meets Hawa Hassan, creator of Basbaas, her new condiment inspired by her Somalian roots. Hawa’s story includes time in a Kenyan refugee camp, being separated from her family at 7 and eventually working as a model. The sauce she’s making is a based on a craving, not only for a flavor, but for the country, and the family, she left behind. On Eden Eats NYC, Eden Grinshpan, meets owners Jessi and Jennifer Singh at their hot Alphabet City restaurant, Babu Ji. Chef Jessi shares the secret to his crave-worthy butter chicken and the surprising virtues of Indian spices. Alex Guarnaschelli's restaurant, Butter, has been a Manhattan favorite for over a decade. TV food star on Chopped, Iron Chef America and Alex's Day Off, Alex has just embarked on a very different challenge: stand-up comedy. Correspondent Pavia Rosati checks out Alex's new act at Carolines comedy club, and talks to the beloved chef about why she's craving this new expression. Novelist Jay McInerney and chef Mario Batali meet up at Batali's pizzeria and enoteca, Otto, in New York City to pay tribute to their friend, the late, great novelist, poet, screenwriter, and prodigious craver of food, nature and of the fullness of life, Jim Harrison. In Mario Batali's Madeleine Moment, the great chef and co-host of The Chew reveals why the smell of boiling pasta water always makes him so crazy.
