INDIAN RAILWAYS OHE means Over Head Equipment. The poles, the electrical connectivity and all related equipment needs to be maintained regularly. OHE is primarily the electricity provider to the engine of the train. This inspector checks all these equipment for fitness which ensures easy transit of all trains. This car is used in the night to check the condition of the over head equipment (OHE). The OHE consists of contact wire, caternary wire, dropper wire, cantilever to support this wires, insulator which isolate the wires from mast, auto tensioners/dead weights which keep the requires tension in Contact wire to prevent it from sagging etc. Routine examination is required to reduce the chances of breakage of contact/caternary/ dropper wire or other equipment when the train is moving below it. A damage to any of this can cause a huge damage to pantograph on train roof, delays/disruption and even casualties. Thanks for watching
