LordVucious's video: Mega Man: Square Root of -1: Any Speedrun - 3:01 34 Obsoleted

Note: The run was re-timed due to late split. Hey, peoples! I got a little speed run quickie for you. This time it’s the Mega Man fan game called “Mega Man: Square Root of -1.” This game is… special. I think the game can speak for itself, but unfortunately, you won’t see the full game here. This is the “Any%” category. The reason is that there is a place in the game where you can warp to the very end of the game. No, it’s not a glitch. It’s very much intentional. So, you start at Toss Tortoise, and not too far from the start, there is a secret path that leads you to not only a crapton of stuff, but also a teleporter which leads you to a hidden stage that happens to be an abridged Napalm Man’s stage. Once that area is beaten, you’ll warp to the end of the game where you face off against Wily. (If you haven’t seen this game before, this still isn’t that much of a spoiler, seriously.) The run isn’t that hard, but one of the mechanics in this game is that if you get hit, you’ll lose your charge, similar to MM5 and 6 (there’s an item you can get where this is nullified, but due to the nature of the run, I can’t get it). So this makes the run up to and including the Wily Machine fight a little bit silly. That being said, the run is okay for this being a run I did on a whim today for about an hour or so. Several things can be improved on, but for what it is, this can work. Although, I will say that sub-3 minutes is more than possible. I’m not sure if I want to take this seriously enough to improve it, but whatever. One thing to note, however, that this is version 1.2. There is a newer version out there (v1.35) available, but as far as I know, there is no shortcut to the end. If there is, though, I haven’t had the time to look through it since this run was done on short notice. I’ll link the latest version of the game for you to play.
