Lorraine C. Ladish's video: At 60 I don t feel my best days are behind me

@At 60 I don’t feel my best days are behind me
Throughout my life, I've navigated through storms of clinical depression, anxiety, an eating disorder, a myriad of injuries, and those health hurdles we all seem to encounter as we age. Yet, despite these battles, I've never stopped taking good care of myself. (Español más abajo) Reflecting on my journey, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for the commitment I made to fitness from my teenage years to now, at the age of 60, and for seeking therapy and continuously exploring ways to grow and understand myself better. My life has been a quest for meaning, and along this journey, I've discovered it in the most unexpected places. Maybe it was growing up without a mother (though my dad and grandmother were incredible) that taught me how to mother myself and later, my children. This self-nurturing became my anchor through the tumult of mental and emotional challenges. Choosing to carve my own path professionally, I embraced the life of a freelancer and self-employed creative. Living on my terms has been one of my greatest joys and successes, although it’s not for the faint of heart. The idea of retiring doesn't sit well with me for a few reasons. Financially, starting over in new cities and countries means retirement isn't really an option. But more importantly, I can't fathom a life without the purpose that drives me. My dad, still active at 85 as a writer, lexicographer, and linguist, is a living testament to the power of having a passion. His refusal to retire inspires me daily. Now, I'm gearing up—body, mind, and soul—for the adventures this decade will bring, and hopefully many more after. How about you? Are you also getting ready for what's ahead?
