So, yesterday I realized that I had never composed an original battle theme for my friend GallumGrant. This was a grave error because out of all people, GalliumGrant is one I should have considered a long time ago! So, I decided to work on one for him. :D Visit his channel for awesome original pieces and remixes! http://www.youtube.com/user/GalliumGrant So, this is the first piece that I've done in e-flat minor in awhile. The last (piece that was uploaded to my channel because I composed a piano sonata that modulated to e-flat minor about 4 or 5 months ago) was this piece (if you guys are interested in listening to it... I actually think that it's one of my best): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxrkEks5crI But yeah, this piece is rather simplistic. It starts off in e-flat minor and establishes every motif (melodic and rhythmic) that will be used throughout the piece (excluding the section with the chromatically rising diminished chords). It then goes into a really short and abrupt sounding (which was on purpose) modulation to the key of e minor by using the VI chord in e-flat minor (which is enharmonically equivalent to the V chord of e minor). The e minor section is however very short. All it does is make use of chromatic mediants (i - vi), and then it goes into a modulation back to e-flat minor, which is as follows: em: io7 - biio7 cm: vii07/V - i6/4 - V - vo7 - vio7 ebm: viio7/V - i6/4 - V. It then cadences on the VI of e-flat minor, and does a very basic progression (VI - VII), but cadences on the major tonic, instead of the minor tonic (which is really Japanese-like, in my opinion). From there, the piece ends on the V, and just loops. So, yeah... :D
