Ludwig van Larx's video: Original Composition: Twilight of War in C Minor I

@Original Composition: "Twilight of War in C Minor, I"
Watch in HD to see the artwork in all its glory. :D This is an orchestral work based on the artwork that you see in the video. It will be in 3 movements, and the one that you are listening to now is the first... obviously. lol The artist was kind enough to allow me to use his artwork in my video, and also gave me a few suggestions on what the mood of the piece was (I'll talk about that, though lol). So, please visit his DA gallery and check out his artwork, especially if you like his art! http://asakurashinji.deviantart.com/ Here is the link to the artwork used in the video! http://asakurashinji.deviantart.com/art/Twilight-of-War-510335467 So, about the piece (mostly the part I mentioned in the beginning lol): Uhm, so, the artist basically suggested that I should start out slow and slowly build up the tension to a climax, which would then die out and resolve to a much more tranquil section for the ending. However, the problem was that he was expecting the climax to be much more uplifting than it is here (climax is at 1:40). So, my idea was that while I had originally intended for it to be much more uplifting and spirited, I had actually deleted (what was about a minute worth of work) what I had originally composed because nothing in the piece really detailed the tragic side of war. The preceding section to the climax (0:18 - 1:03) was essentially my more uplifting, spirited section (which also kind of serves as the "march"), albeit short (I actually should have developed it a lot more to make it much more uplifting than it is). So, the climax is a little more dark than what I actually first had. But I guess it still worked out rather well, if not a teensy bit better than what I originally had because the change of tone between the final chord of that climax and the start of the new section is so noticeable. However, since the artist did have some really, really neat ideas, I decided that I'd make this a multi-movement work and incorporate more of his ideas and even develop on them a bit more. So, in the future, expect to see the next two movements (the next one being much more uplifting, and the last being half uplifting and half tranquil). :P Anyway, I hope you enjoy this piece.
