Luftschlange's video: LU: Northern line trains at Finchley Central and Mill Hill East

@LU: Northern line trains at Finchley Central and Mill Hill East
This film shows the Northern line at Finchley Central to Mill Hill East in Northern London. Finchley Central is situated on the High Barnet branch. Originally not a London Underground line, the station opened by the Great Northern Railway in 1867. Northern line trains did not start serving the station until 1940, one year before main line train services were withdrawn. The original railway line continued towards Edgware via Mill Hill East and the line towards High Barnet was constructed as a branch line in 1872. Today, most Northen line trains (except for a few during the day) terminate at High Barnet. The line to Edgware no longer exists except for a short one-station branch to Mill Hill East. For most of the day there is a Northern line shuttle service running between Mill Hill East and Finchley Central. The film first shows Finchley Central with frequent Northern line service to and from High Barnet. In the second half we board a 1995 Tube Stock train from Finchley Central to Mill Hill East, before the film closes with a few idyllic views of Mill Hill East station. Enjoy!
