The owner of a fitness club in the French village of Genay has been on a hunger strike since September 29, to protest against the closing of her gym due to coronavirus restrictions. A red banner was seen hanging in front of the La Salle Fitness Club on Wednesday, reading "Shut down unfairly by an incompetent government." "We will never recover from our losses. I decided to do it after this second shutdown, which I found completely inappropriate. Above all to show my discontent," said gym owner Evelyne Bernard on her decision to commence the hunger strike. "It is unfair because I think we have done everything that we were requested to do since the end of the lockdown. There was no reason to shut us down again," Bernard added. Bernard was seen walking across her empty gym, while gym members improvised an outdoor training session in front of the fitness club's premises to show their support.
