Congressman Posey speaks on the House floor about a CDC whistleblower exposing deception at the CDC. July 29, 2015 Florida Congressman Bill Posey spoke before the House of Representatives last week to plead with his fellow representatives to be more open about the damage vaccines can cause, and to investigate charges against the Centers for Disease Control that they covered up data which changed the results of an important study. Last summer, a senior epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control, admitted that he had helped the CDC hide data from a study that linked the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine to autism. Although the official study said no link was found, Dr. William Thompson said the study actually found that giving a child the vaccine before the age of 36 months increased the risk of autism by 69 percent, and giving it to an African-American child increased the risk of autism by 240 percent. A year later, Congress has yet to act. "While I support parents vaccinating their children, we hope Members of Congress will not turn a deaf ear to this revelation," Congressman Posey told Newsmax Health. "The public has a right to hear the truth from their government. Parents deserve the best information possible so they can make good decisions regarding their children’s health." Even though Representative Posey strongly believes in the validity of vaccines, he thinks it is imperative that the CDC answer the charges they hid data, and that the government make other vaccine-related data more readily available to parents. "I am absolutely, resolutely pro-vaccine," the Congressman stated. "Advancements in immunization have saved countless lives and have greatly benefited public health. "That being said," he continued, "it's troubling to me that in a recent Senate hearing on childhood vaccination, it was never mentioned that our government has paid out over $3 billion dollars through a vaccine injury compensation program for children who have been injured by vaccinations." Rep. Posey reminded the House that Dr. Thompson had provided his office with documents related to the study. Thompson also released a statement saying he regretted that he had omitted "statistically significant information" in the article that was published in the Journal of Pediatrics, even though the differences they found, especially among black children, were "huge." According to a statement by Dr. Thompson that Rep. Posey entered into the Congressional record, co-authors of the autism study "all met and brought a big garbage can into the meeting room, and reviewed and went through all the hardcopy documents that we had thought we should discard, and put them into a huge garbage can." "Mr. Speaker," said Rep. Posey, "I believe it’s our duty to ensure that the documents that Dr. Thompson provided are not ignored. Therefore I will provide them to members of congress and the house committees upon request. "Considering the nature of the whistleblower’s documents, as well as the involvement of the CDC, a hearing and a thorough investigation is warranted. So I ask Mr. Speaker, I beg, I implore my colleagues on the appropriations committees to please, please take such action." Holistic doctor David Brownstein agrees that vital information shouldn't be hidden from parents, and he is outraged at how slow Congress is acting. "If the CDC truly threw these documents into the garbage, it's more than time for Congress to investigate this mess," he tells Newsmax Health. "If the accusations are true, heads need to roll at the CDC," said Dr. Brownstein, author of the newsletter Natural Way to Health. "I'm glad that at least one member of Congress has the courage to confront his fellow members and demand answers," he said. "This is one Congressman that isn't turning a deaf ear to the situation and is putting the best interests of children and parents above his own. "It's time for all of us to speak up about this outrage," says Dr. Brownstein.
