@Lyme disease protest outside Leinster House - 3News Ireland 27-09-2017
Broadcaster George Hook makes first public appearance since being taken off air over controversial comments about rape The Newstalk host joined protesters outside Leinster House calling on the HSE to accept German lab tests in relation to Lyme disease. The 76-year-old has been a long-time advocate for the introduction of antibiotics to treat the condition and previously attacked Taoiseach Leo Varadkar over the issue. Last week, Hook stepped down as host of his lunchtime show High Noon. However, he is set to return to the airwaves this December with a brand new weekend programme. As for his replacement on the 12-2 slot, Newstalk bosses have said that a decision will be made in due course. Dr Ciara Kelly has stood in for him on High Noon since his suspension yet it remains to be seen whether this will be a permanent fixture.
