After seeing multiple specialists, Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Lavigne told ABC News’ Jesse Palmer that year that she was "doing a lot better [and] seeing a lot of progress." "I'm just really grateful to know that, like, I will make [a] 100 percent recovery," she added at the time.
