Early signs of a narcissistic and abusive partner are them disrespecting you and dishonouring your boundaries and values. If your partner uses threats, coercion, force and the likes to get their way with you, you are in an abusive relationship. If your partner gets upset, annoyed or angry at you for upholding your boundaries or values, you are in an abusive relationship. If your partner repeatedly treats you badly then apologises, you are in an abusive relationship. With each abusive episode things get worse and you make and accept all kinds of excuses. I knew the relationship I was in was a toxic one but I never wanted to admit that I was in an abusive relationship. Not until the day my life flashed before my eyes. That was the extreme wake up call that jolted me into realising that being alive and single was infinitely better than me being dead. Even while alive so many lies have been used against me and I can only imagine the lies that would have been told to cover up the truth if the worst had happened that day. I thank God for awakening me. I thank God I chose me, I’m still choosing me and I will always choose me. I thank God for life.
