Monroe by Bayard Stockton (1989) Tom Campbell and Dennis Mennerich continue their interview from a busy New York restaurant recalling the origins of what is now the Monroe Institute, and the people who remember the early experiments that they helped design and conduct. Tom emphasizes the important focus points for those on a spiritual path. From Dennis: Well, here it is two and a half years later. This video was posted back when there was a 10 minute limit so a lot got cut out. I would like to add that the healing seminar was put on by Midge Soderbergh, a good friend and mentor, and the mother of Steven -- the film director, producer, etc. I knew Steve when he was 11. Several of the characters in his movies were named Midge. In addition to Midge, the other person who had their hands in my energy field was a very large black guy who was an FBI agent (name forgotten). The next night a number of us went to Midge's home for a follow-up session where I had a similar experience, fainted (they told me later) and lay on the floor for a long time before coming back. Objectively, one might say that I was psychologically caught up in the event and created / hallucinated these phenomena, a placebo effect gone wild, but to me at the time the experience was very real. Now for the rest of the story: About 5 years later, I was sparring with another black belt at our dojo at the end of class. He zigged or I zagged and I ended up punching him in the face with my right. Master Dong stopped the match and lined us up to bow out. As I got in line, the same energy field as I felt above popped out of my right arm from hand to elbow and remained for a few minutes. As I learned years later (I spent half my life active in the martial arts), one can project internal energy -- Ki -- Chi -- into another person, even without touching. Looking back, I would have to say that was what happened and the energy was still in my arm. Note that I was totally focused in physical reality combat and not under any possible influence of a healing seminar. This was a strong reinforcement to my earlier Ah-Ha! moment. About 5 years after that, I began a study of acupuncture theory as applied to martial arts and subsequently had many experiences that validated my observation of an energy field in and about the body. If I put my mind to it, I can still feel weak energy pulsations about my body when meditating, when deeply relaxed, when listening to my binaural-beat recordings or occasionally to external sounds like airplane engine beats or air conditioner motors, etc. If you listen to some of the other MBT videos, you may begin to understand why I came to believe / know that subtle energy systems and consciousness exist without (and within) a physical body. It appears that I am a personality-energy-essence currently (partially?) focused in this spacetime physical reality (Ezekiel?). Your mileage may vary. 73 Dennis
