The more tools I collected around my machine, the bigger this waste of time seemed to get. Instead of my tools being something that helped me get stuff done, my tools started to become something that took ownership of my time. I stopped with what I was doing and put all my tools from the cnc 6040 router workbench together. first I removed all the tools that weren't used frequently. The most used tools: Hammer, calipers, tape measure, parallels, wretched key and wrench 10,15 and 17 got a place in the top drawer of my workbench. The collets and end mills went in the second drawer. To make sure that I never had to search for these tools I designed custom tool insert for the drawers. The shapes of the end mills and collets where pretty easy to model in fusion 360. The tools from the top drawer where much harder. To save time, I used a photo scanner to get a picture of the tool in the CAD software. Now I only had the trace the contours of the pictures and the custom drawer design was done. Milling the tool insert on the CNC 6040 Router was pretty simple and took only took a couple of hours. Working with the CNC 6040 Router has become more fun after this upgrade. The time I spend setting up the workpieces has decreased quit a bit. Also cleaning the workshop is becoming easier because everything starts to get it’s dedicated place.
