MSK Chess's video: Chess game analysis: Andrew Muir verse Gata Kamsky

@Chess game analysis: Andrew Muir verse Gata Kamsky
Scottish International Master Andrew Muir goes head to head with a young Gata Kamsky. The game played in 1990 follows a well known variation of the Botvinnik Slav, played by famous players like Kasparov, Kramnik, Ivanchuk, Shirov and Yusupov. It leads to a fairly unbalanced position in which almost anything might happen. The game itself is excellent from a purely instructional perspective as International Master Andrew Muir demonstrates how to open lines against a King opened on the opposite wing, how to negate counter play, how to turn a defensive piece into an attacking piece. It culminates in a beautiful exchange sacrifice which removes the dark squared bishop, one of the Kings most stalwart defenders and releases a passed pawn which puts extreme pressure on blacks position driving the rooks to passivity. White spices cut right through the chessboard whereas blacks are essentially super passive and defensive. The black king is eventually stripped of all defence except for his loyal Queen but she is a poor defender when faced with such an unrelenting onslaught from two active bishops in an open board.. The game is taken from a publication entitled Rampant chess written by two Scottish players, Geoff Chandler and Keith Ruxton which is not only humorous and instructional but immensely enjoyable for a chess book. Its my hope that you will enjoy the video presentation and take something from it to apply in your own games. I am forever grateful to the artists and musicians whose material i have utilized to make an otherwise dry subject, palatable. There is no copyright infringement intended and the presentation is done purely for educational purposes. I include full references to all third party material in both the video and the description.
