MSK Chess's video: Endgame essentials: bishop and knight mate

@Endgame essentials: bishop and knight mate.
Another chess endgame video looking at how to deliver checkmate with bishop, knight and king verses a lone king. The king we are trying to mate will always run to the corner opposite the colour of our bishop. Essentially we need to centralize our pieces and drive the King to the edge on the chessboard and into one of the corners. From this position we can drive the king across the eighth rank using the important concepts of restriction and piece co-ordination. The knight will move in a W formation and we may occasionally need to lose a tempo with our bishop especially if the opponents king tries to run back to a safe square. Also we need to be careful to restrict the King when he has opportunity to enter the seventh rank. Bishop and Knight working in tandem are excellent at restricting the kings movement and shepherding him back to the eighth rank because they are able to cover both colour complexes, dark and light. Of course in order for us to benefit from the theory we must practice it and its my hope that you will be inspired to master this endgame mating sequence. My thanks as always go to the artists and the musicians whose material i have used in order to make a dry subject more palatable. I am so grateful to them. images: https://bottle-fairy.deviantart.com/art/Blue-eyed-Boy-122613795 https://doctor-surgeon.deviantart.com/art/Tsubasa-Cosplay-II-91473412 https://hephoto.deviantart.com/art/Learning-Chess-I-323685921 https://rotten-jelly-babie.deviantart.com/art/I-have-you-now-317767965 https://faramon.deviantart.com/art/Pixie-Late-AP-Chocolate-Chess-502053789 music: Edwin Dekker https://soundcloud.com/imeddy/its-all-over-now-baby-blue lichess study: https://lichess.org/study/SNIhDU6X endgame simulator: http://www.chessvideos.tv/endgame-training/bishop-knight-checkmate.php blog: https://www.chess.com/blog/robbie_1969/endgame-essentials-bishop-and-knight-mate chess, echecs , ajedrez , xadrez , shahmati , szachy , sjakk , schach , schaken , satranj , шахматы , شطرنج
