MT- TVC15's video: BOWIE COVERS THE WHO PICTURES OF LILY 2021 BRILLINT ADVENTURE REMASTER

@BOWIE COVERS THE WHO ~ PICTURES OF LILY ~ 2021 BRILLINT ADVENTURE REMASTER
This 2021 remaster is the final track of the recently released deluxe Bowie Boxset Brilliant Adventures ending disc 3 of Recall 5 Pictures ~ Lily Allen - Yes I know the song is about Lily Langtry but given the songs subject for me at least Mz Allen is a more than apt replacement :-) "Pictures of Lily" is a single by the British rock band The Who, written by guitarist and primary songwriter Pete Townshend. It was released in 1967 as a single, and made the top five in the UK, but failed to break into the top 50 in the United States. In 1971, "Pictures of Lily" was included in the Who album Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy, a compilation of previously released singles. Townshend coined the term "power pop" when he used it to describe the song in a May 1967 interview with NME An early order of business once Bowie reconvened his band at Looking Glass Studios in early October 2000 was to cut this Who cover. Pete Townshend had asked him to take part in a Who tribute album (Bowie was the bait to hook other contributors, like Pearl Jam and Sheryl Crow). Bowie devoted little time to the task, with much of the recording cut in a few hours. In march 2016 The Who paid tribute to their “longtime fan” and friend David Bowie prior to the band’s concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden, with the venue also remembering the artist who both performed and frequented the arena. Prior to the Who’s gig, a large screen projected a message from the band to Bowie. “David Bowie. Friend of The Who. Son of New York. Tonight we will distinctly miss David Bowie, longtime fan of The Who,” the message said. “He’s told the story of how he climbed the fence at London’s Roundhouse to sneak backstage and give Pete Townshend a copy of his new 1969 album, David Bowie. He covered ‘I Can’t Explain’ and ‘Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere’ on his Pin Ups album. Nearly every year at MSG, he sat in the first row right beside the stage. We’ll miss our friend, a true icon of music and art, and a brilliant innovator.” This channel never has & never will carry advertisements the only ads you will find are those enforced by copyright claims & fair dues to those that are entitled I upload sorely for the love of the music Hope you find something to enjoy xx If you enjoy the content of my channel please Like & Share the video's Subscribe & click the bell for notifications of uploads etc etc You know the drill Big Thanks, Love on ya MT This video is dedicated to the principals behind the rock against racism movement Rock Against Racism was a groundbreaking movement which staged marches, festivals and concerts from 1976-81 with the aim of fighting racism through music MTRudeBoy claims no rights to sound or vision Footage used to Pay Respect & Honour Britain's Greatest ever solo artist
