Chapter 5: A Realistic Fake Boyfriend The next morning, Nat rang Rosalinas doorbell and waited for her to come down. After she didnt come down, he unlocked the door with his key and made his way upstairs. He found Rosalina in her room, asleep. "Hey, you gotta get up." Nat told Rosalina as he tried to shake her awake. "I dont wanna. I dont wanna turn down anymore guys." Rosalina moaned. Nat picked her up and carried her to the bathroom, where he knew all her stuff was. "Get ready and be downstairs in five minutes." Nat said, putting her down. "I hate you." Rosalina said slamming the door in his face. "No, you love me. I'm supposed to be your boyfriend, remember?" Nat yelled through the door. Nat went into Rosalinas room and looked around. He saw a broken bass strap lying on the ground and got an idea. "I'm ready, now let's go." Rosalina yelled. Nat quickly left her room and followed her downstairs. They walked to school in silence. "Put your arm around me." Rosalina whispered as they got close to school. Nat did as told, holding back his excitement. When they walked in school, all heads turned their direction. The guys who had asked her out turned the other way in disgust. Nat couldn't help but smile. Nat walked Rosalina to her class. Nat gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and hugged her. "What was with the kiss for?" Rosalina whispered while they hugged. "I gotta make it realistic." He said back. "See you later." Rosalina slowly walked into her class, being swarmed by everyone in the class. Nat smiled and hoped she would be safe. He then headed to the music hall to buy something from the store. Nat was waiting at Rosalinas locker after 6th hour with a red gift bag in his hand. "Hey, I thought I was meeting you at rehearsal today." Rosalina said as she opened her locker. "I got you a present." Nat said, handing her the bag. "You didn't have to do this." Rosalina told him. She opened the bag and pulled out a hot pink bass strap with her name embroidered in it. "How did you know?" "I saw your old one on the ground this morning. I know how much you loved that one because your mom gave it to you." Nat said. He noticed Rosalinas eyes were watering. "What's wrong?" "Thanks." Rosalina said, giving him a hug. "Your welcome." He said. "Now let's go test out that strap." They walked to rehearsal with Nats arm around Rosalina in case any kids from school were watching. "You look happy." Qaasim said when they walked in the studio. "Because I am." Rosalina said, picking up her bass and putting on the strap.
