MakingBabyTaylor's video: Welcome Baby Sullivan Positive C-Section Birth Vlog

Our third and final baby was born on March 8th, 2018 and I finally finished his birth vlog and wanted to share it with you! I had a high risk pregnancy due to an autoimmune disorder, gestational diabetes, and gestational hypertension that was beginning to progress into preeclampsia. We planned for an induction at 38 weeks, but that all changed when I went to my routine prenatal appointment and my blood pressure was extremely high- so high that it was very dangerous for both me and the baby, so my doctor wanted me to go to the hospital to be induced right away! Because I had a successful VBAC (Vaginal birth after cesarean) with our daughter, my doctor was confident that the induction would work and I would be able to successfully have another vaginal birth. But because there was still a (very small) risk of uterine rupture (and that increases with induction) my doctor did not want to be too aggressive with the induction so that we would both be safe. So it was intentionally a very slow and gradual process, which ended up taking four days total- we started the induction on Monday, and baby Sullivan was finally born very late at night on Thursday at 37 weeks 2 days! We were very well taken care of and even though I was not able to achieve another VBAC as I had hoped, I was still able to experience a very positive, peaceful, reverent, and beautiful birth where I felt empowered and respected. Because Sullivan was born early term, we did have some struggles with feeding which worsened his struggles with low blood sugar, but we were able to overcome them and finally take him home that Sunday evening. Since this process was so very long, I edited this highlights version of his birth story to share with you the beautiful moments surrounding my labor and delivery, and the first couple of days after his birth until we got to bring him home. These sweet moments will forever be so precious to me, especially seeing my other two children meet their baby brother for the first time and just love on him the way that they did.
