ManWithNoExpression's video: The Hollies - Don t Even Think About Changing - Guitar and Bass Cover

@The Hollies - Don't Even Think About Changing - Guitar and Bass Cover
Don’t Even Think About Changing was the 11th track on the Hollies’ fifth album For Certain Because. It was also the B-side to the US single What’s Wrong With The Way I Live in 1966. It was recorded on 17 November 1965, but For Certain Because not released until 9 December 1966. I don’t think there’s much information on why this happened. Perhaps it was supposed to be an album track on their previous album Would You Believe? but I that current single I Can’t Let Go was used instead so this song was shelved. Maybe this was also because the lyrics were a bit corny. Regardless, it’s a very well constructed song with some fascinating guitar layering. During the part where they sing the title, it almost sounds like a 12 string because there are 2 guitar tracks playing similar parts. It’s notable that because of the delayed released of this song, it was the last released song to feature Eric Haydock on bass, who just passed away a few weeks ago on 5 January 2019. It’s really a highlight of bass playing on the album. Eric was always so much more melodic on the bass than Bernie Calvert. This is especially noticeable on tracks like Stop Stop Stop, where the bass part is essentially two notes for the majority of the song. I would have loved to hear many more Hollies albums with Eric on bass. My guess for who plays the guitar parts is that Tony plays both of the lead guitar parts, and possibly Graham plays the rhythm part.
