@LINKOnline Webinar: Holistic governance - from the mountains to the sea
Ecosystem based management, catchment planning, landscape scale management, and well-being economics all require shifts towards more holistic governance. Narratives of holistic governance connect people, places, ideas, and policies across NZ society. Ki uta ki tai – connecting from the mountains to the sea is one such narrative. The Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge funded a team lead by Alison Greenaway to produce multi-media resources which would circulate narratives enabling ecosystem-based management. Rather than provide specific marine or land sectors with ideas about how they might change, the resources foster conversations across NZ society about how holistic governance might be achieved collectively. The resources are designed for use by policy officials, governance boards, schools, community groups and hapū (https://sustainableseaschallenge.co.nz/programmes/enabling-ecosystem-based-management/ebm-enabling-narratives). The webinar discusses how science communication creates impact when co-produced with kaupapa Māori and social science approaches to public dialogue and collective action.
