New research has provided a greater understanding of how water and nutrients move through or are retained in New Zealand soils. The results of this research will be available in the upcoming update of S-map (NZ’s authoritative soil information system) from the end of this month. This webinar will outline the science behind the revised S-map model of soil water retention and the implications of the change. We will also introduce the S-map Farm Test, a new approach to combining data collected on the farm with S-map models, including the new soil water retention model. This innovation aims to support detailed farm planning and soil conservation at farm scale.
