Manitoba Wildlife Federation's video: Canada Goose Banding with the Canadian Wildlife Service

@Canada Goose Banding with the Canadian Wildlife Service
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work as a wildlife Biologist? The MWF offers an insight into the scientific process of monitoring a wildlife species. Migratory Bird Biologist Frank Baldwin of the Canadian Wildlife Service provides us with a glimpse into the work involved in tracking, monitoring, and managing Canada Goose populations. All management decisions are made through the data obtained from the Canada Goose banding program. Every year Geese are banded during their molting period, this roughly six-week window in the summer is the period where Geese completely replace their flight feathers, rendering them flightless during this time. It is during this window that the geese are rounded up and bands are placed on the geese in order to track the life survival rates of the population.
