Manitoba Wildlife Federation's video: WMA - Ecosystem Management

@WMA - Ecosystem Management
The Manitoba wildlife federation is excited to announce the launch of a three-part video series profiling the WMA enhancement initiative pilot projects from a unique and in-depth perspective. This three-part series takes a deep dive into the processes and impacts of these pilot projects and explains the reasoning, application and need for this program across the province. In this third video of the series, the MWF sits down with Professor Dr. David Walker from the University of Manitobas Environment and Geography faculty. Dr. Walker teaches in the field of Wildlife and Geomatics and provides the MWF an insight into the effects of managing landscapes through the reintroduction of disturbance. Dr. Walker details how grasslands evolved overtime and how we can act to protect what little remaining native prairie we have left. This is where the WMA Enhancement Initiative Pilot Projects come in. The aim of this project is simple, reintroduce disturbance onto the landscapes to turn back the clock on the succession rates in the province. This has been the third and final video in this WMA series. We hope that the information shared in these videos will help to further the understanding of our WMA enhancement initiative pilot project, and the need to manage wild lands in the province to promote a healthier habitat for wildlife.
