Often times as a coffee consultant, you need to be able to read more than the words your clients are saying. This shows up in many different ways in consulting sessions: - reading a client’s anxiety levels - reading when a client isn’t quite telling you the truth  - noticing when a client is telling you they understand when really they don’t  - anticipating financial issues - knowing when a client can’t see a blind spot ahead - anticipating when a client is about to make a supply chain decision that may get them into trouble legally, professionally, or ethically - reading when a client is considering cutting corners that could get them into trouble (think cafe fit out) and helping them find other solutions The big skill here is EMPATHY and caring enough about your clients to go above and beyond the surface-level work. This is what the best consultants are made of and they’re worth their weight in gold. Why…because they’re not scared to tell clients what they need to hear rather than what they want to hear.
