Having a magical time in Rajasthan with my friend Markus Rindt from the Dresdner Sinfoniker, I would like to share a wonderful impression from our Rajasthan trip to the Shekawati region, north of Jaipur. It has been organized by our new friend Vinod Joshi, who is a restless supporter of traditional music in nothern India. We are here to research for a great Rajasthan Roma project to be realized by support of Lars-Christian Koch from the Berlin Phonographic Archive and Rajeev Goenka's Music Academy to be premiered at Hellerau, Dresden — the initiators of ths project — and Radialsystem, Berlin in conjuction with the Dresdner Sinfoniker, No Borders Orchestra from Belgrade, Ensemble Plural, Madrid, Orchestra Simfonica Bucuresti, SEE.ID and Pecs in 2017. It will include the some of the foremost performers from Rajasthan that we are here to find and exceptional artists of Romani descent like Delaine and Damian Le Bas and the great Iva Bittova. In times, when people have started to leave their homes for a better life that all of us deserve, just because we are human beings, it is my hope, that we can learn from people, who have been travellers for centuries. As Günter Grass says: the gipsies are the true Europeans; they know no borders!
