The device has a built-in 750 mAh battery with a USB-C port on the side to charge it. One 30 minute charge should last for literally thousands of measurements. It is simple to use. Just press the button and as you look through the eyepiece you see the calculated distance. Press the mode button to see the distance in real-time as you move or to factor in the level of slope. The slope adjusting feature can be turned off so that the device can be legally used in golfing tournaments with the illuminated slope switch confirming that this has been done.
