STEP SIX: Action Steps Above the line of your Universal Story Planner, add the day-to-day steps you plan to take in pursuit of your external goal. Breakdown your long-term external goal into daily short-term goals. These short-term daily goals then become the steps you plan to take toward your long-term external goal. If you’re using the top half of your planner to pre-plot, plot, or revise your novel, memoir, screenplay, use the area above the US Planner line to plot out your scenes. Each scene then represents the next step you’re planning to take toward your long-term goal. Whatever your goal, above the line indicate each step you plan to take that you believe moves you nearer to your goal. I recommend you write each step on sticky notes. That way, you’re able to easily move the steps, add, modify, and eliminate steps as needed. Plot those sticky notes in the order you’ll enact them above the line in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters of the Universal Story Planner. The 6 steps you’ve taken in Turn Your Goals Into Reality are the true first steps toward your long-term goal. If you so desire, include these 6 steps in the beginning portion of your Universal Story Planner, and you’re already off to a great start toward your long-term goal.
