Recipe :
Mirchi Vada
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 3
Ingredients:
6-8 Medium Thick green chilies
For Stuffing:
2 tbsp Oil
A pinch of Asafetida
½ tsp Cumin seed
1tsp Finely chopped ginger
1tsp Finely Chopped green chilies
1/2 tsp Red chili powder
1 tsp Salt
½ tsp Roasted cumin powder
1 ½ cup Boiled Potatoes
2 tbsp Finely chopped coriander leaves
½ tsp Chat masala
1 tbsp Lemon juice
For Batter
1 cup Gram flour/Besan
½ tsp Salt
½ tsp Red chili powder
A pinch Carom seed
Water as required
Method:
Wash and wipe the chilies. Slit it from center and remove all seeds for it.
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan. To medium hot oil, add a pinch of asafetida, cumin seed, finely chopped ginger, green chili and cook for a minute or till fragrant.
Add red chili powder, roasted jeera powder and salt in it and mix.
Add the potatoes to the masala and mix well. Remove it from the heat.
Add finely chopped coriander leaves, chat masala and lemon juice and mix well. Set aside to cool.
Meanwhile, preparae the batter.
For the batter, add besan, salt, red chili powder and carom seed to a bowl.
Add a little water at a time and made a thick lump free batter of dropping consistency.
Fill the stuffing in slit chilies and then roll it in the dry besan then dip in batter and deep fry in medium hot oil till golden brown in color.
Serve hot with hot tea and green chutney.
