For this besan ki sabji, the besan is mixed into a batter with spices, cooked till it thickens, set, cut into pieces and then added to a gravy.

Recipe :
Besan Ki Sabji
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Serve: 3-4
Ingredients:
For Katli:
2 cup besan
2 ½ cup water
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp oil
For Gravy:
1/4 cup oil
2 bay leaves
½ tsp cumin seeds
2 black cardamoms
3-4 cloves
1 cup finely chopped onions
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
½ cup tomato paste
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
salt to taste
1 onion, diced
Method:
Mix together all the ingredients for the katli.
Cook the mixture in a non stick pan, stirring constantly, till the mixture comes together to a ball consistency.
Immediately remove to a greased plate and flatten the besan to a thickness of ½” . Cool and cut into pieces of size of your choice.
Heat oil in a pan. Lightly fry the pieces till a little coloured. Remove the katli.
To the same oil, add the whole spices and allow to splutter. Add the chopped onions and sauté till golden. Add the ginger garlic paste and mix well.
Add the powdered spices and mix well.
Add the tomato paste, salt to taste, 1 cup water and mix well. Bring to a boil. Add the besan pieces, diced onions and simmer for 4-5 minutes.
Remove from heat and serve.
