जिग्नेश मेवानी ने कहा आरएसएस भाजपा का मुख्य एजेंडा एससी - एसटी का आरक्षण खत्म करना है। गुजरात के निर्दलीय विधायक एवं दलित नेता जिग्नेश मेवानी ने रविवार को कहा कि सामान्य वर्ग के गरीबों को 10 प्रतिशत आरक्षण मुहैया करने का केंद्र सरकार का फैसला जातिगत आरक्षण खत्म करने के आरएसएस- भाजपा के एजेंडे को साकार करने की दिशा में एक कदम है. मेवानी ने कोलकाता में कहा कि संविधान को खारिज करने और जाति आधारित आरक्षण को खत्म करने का आरएसएस- भाजपा का यह काफी समय से लंबित एजेंडा है. उन्होंने कहा कि सामाजिक - शैक्षणिक आधार पर आरक्षण को खत्म करने की दिशा में यह एक कदम है. मेवानी ने कहा कि सामाजिक और शैक्षणिक रूप से पिछड़े लोगों को प्रतिनिधित्व देने के लिए देश में आरक्षण की व्यवस्था लाई गई थी. इसका उद्देश्य गरीबी उन्मूलन करना नहीं था. मेवानी ने भाजपा के खिलाफ बसपा प्रमुख मायावती और सपा प्रमुख अखिलेश यादव के बीच उत्तर प्रदेश में हुए गठबंधन की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि अन्य विपक्षी पार्टियों को भी इस गठबंधन से सीख लेनी चाहिए तथा भाजपा विरोध वोटों को अधिक से अधिक एकत्र करने की कोशिश करनी चाहिए.
