Mathview's video: Functions on Manifolds Examples Discussion wmv

@Functions on Manifolds Examples Discussion.wmv
A further discussion of uses of the inverse function theorem. A few examples and a discussion of index notation for the Jacobian matrix of the transformation. Inverse functions can be used to establish a desired topology on a manifold and to preserve the topology of the manifold when you carry out coordinate transformations. We observe that local point topology and the global or large scale topology of a manifold are manifest in the coordinates in R^n. Diffeomorphism is used to preserve the topology of the manifold when changing coordinate systems.
