@How To Get Rid of Microsoft Office Configuration Process Everytime
PLEASE SKIP the intro crap here...5:00 Batch files: https://matrixwriter.box.com/v/Fix-Office-Config-Process *****PLEASE READ THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION FOR STEPS****** In this video, you will learn the technical details of how to get rid of the annoying configuration process that Microsoft Office does when there are multiple versions installed on a Windows machine. Covers background information of why this happens. **IMPORTANT UPDATES** Windows updates related to Office can sometimes mess up issues with getting rid of the annoying configuration process. By default, Microsoft wants you to run the latest version of office that is installed on your computer - so the Windows update often reverts to the latest version. You will notice this when you try to open an Office document and it opens with the version you do not want. Here is the fix (Do not run the batch file just yet as it will not do anything yet at this point): 1) Go to the registry and delete the following enteries: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Options\NoReReg HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options\NoReReg HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Options\NoReReg HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Options\NoReReg HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Options\NoReReg You could alternative run this batch file if you do not want to navigate through the Registry. https://matrixwriter.box.com/v/Fix-Office-Config-Process 2) After deleting, open up Word pertaining to the version of Office you want to run by default (you might have to open up the other version of Office that you do not want to run followed by the version you want to run to invoke the configuration process). 3) After the reconfiguration, run the batch file that is supplied further down in the video description. 4) Profit! ---------------------------------- Don't want to the technical background information, please follow these steps: 1) Run the preferred version of Office by opening up Word. So if I want to have Office 2010 as my default and not some other such as 2013, open up Word 2010 and let have it do the configuration process. Do not open other versions of Office after this. 2) Download the batch file (lower part of this video description). 3) Double-click and run the batch file. 4) Profit! Feel free to open any version of Office with out it nagging you. (This is reflected during 6:04 of the video) Batch files: https://matrixwriter.box.com/v/Fix-Office-Config-Process New links for Office 2013 ISOs: http://www.techglobex.net/2012/11/download-microsoft-office-pro-plus-2013.html This video should also be applicable to the various versions of Office installed which include: 1) Office 2003 2) Office 2007 3) Office 2010 4) Office 2013 5) Office 2016 This does not apply to the Office versions for Macintosh as OS X does not use a registry. This should work for pretty much any version of Windows operating system. This is related to Microsoft's Knowledge Base 2528748: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2528748 Any questions?
