Matt's Garage & Misc. DIY's video: 2001 GMC Yukon Battery Replacement Interstate Battery from Costco

@2001 GMC Yukon Battery Replacement | Interstate Battery from Costco
Replacing a battery is pretty straight forward, the steps I take in this video apply to 2000-2006 2nd gen GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Sierra trucks, Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado trucks, and Cadillac Escalade between 2000 and 2006. I selected a replacement battery from Interstate. It’s a group size 78, with 800 CCA and a 42 month free replacement warranty from Costco for $86.99 plus tax and $15 core charge (which we’ll get back when we return the old battery). In the budget battery space I could have gone with another Walmart EverStart Maxx which boasts the same specs, but a lesser 36 month free replacement warranty at $87.96 (plus tax & core). Both batteries are made in Mexico, with most of the Walmart batteries being made by Exide according to their MSDS website. When removing your OLD battery always disconnect the negative terminal FIRST. When installing your NEW battery install the negative terminal LAST. Check your vehicle/engine config on the Interstate batteries website before purchasing a battery to be sure you get the right one: https://www.interstatebatteries.com On the top of the battery you can often find a sticker which notes manufacture month and year. Take note of this when buying your new battery and get a battery that has not been sitting on the shelf for multiple months. Tools Used: • 8mm box-end/open-end wrench (battery side terminal lugs) • 10mm socket (Brace from core support to fender) • 13mm socket (battery hold down mount) • 3/8" Ratchet • 6" x 3/8" extension (reaching the battery hold down)* * A slightly longer extension or piggybacking a 3” extension can be helpful.
